Gheringhap

Gheringhap a junction station to the North of Geelong where the cross country line to Maroona, (and beyond to Ararat) branches off the Ballarat line and runs west, gradually curving to the north along its length. The line to Ballarat was one of the first main lines constructed in Victoria and was built to a high standard, including double track and magnificent bluestone buildings. Gheringhap was a modest station, but all signs of it, the signal cabin and the semaphores have all been obliterated. However, we have some images from 1986 to 1991, so you may see what it was like.
