Bowen originally appeared on the site as a guest Orphan station as a special request that came to us from Twitter. A series of 26Â 36Â 61Â Â photos and a site map of one of the old Bowen Stations taken between 1992 to 1996, which covers the period of it’s closure (passenger operations transferred to a bus shelter some distance out of town). In fact, Bowen is currently on its third station. The one photographed is the second station.
Arthur Robinson has kindly sent us a yard drawing of Bowen. This will eventually be tidied up and relabeled. Thanks Arthur.
More info on Bowen will be posted soon.

was a driver back then good memories
Worked in Bowen as an engineman from 1982 till 1991. What a shame to see what it has become! Don’t miss the old pommie locos though.
Was a Lad Porter, Cleaner Firemen and Train Driver in Bowen and I have very good memories.
The old railway store can be seen via google map/satellite on the corner of Pantall and Don streets- it is now the Brolgas Rest Vet Clinic. During WW2 troops would detrain for meals here- a section of the western wall was propped up to serve the troops.
I was travelling north on the Queenslander in 1986 when aCyclone went across the coast.
The Train was Kept at Bowen for three Days and Two Nights..First Class Sleeper Passengers
stayed in their berth. The Economy Sitting Passenger spent a Night in The Trainmens Quarters..
All the Passengers were bused north to Townsville on Wednesday.
