Kalarka

Kalarka station in the twilight of its existence in the late ’90s, with a once well maintained garden gone feral, and looking as if it could benefit from a coat of  paint. Strangely, at this remote location, the building was one of the last to stand between Rockhampton and Sarina, until one day you dropped by, and it was gone, like all the rest. The town’s name -yes there was a town here once – derived from an aboriginal northern dialect for the wild turkey. This standard skillion roofed building with it’s small ticket office was the only remains of this settlement, and now it too has passed into history.
