Paget (named after the then Railway Ministier) became a junction station after construction of the North Coast Railway proceeded from the Mackay Railway, towards Sarina. West of Paget was the line to Netherdale and Hatton (Later Finch Hatton) as well as a network of other minor branches that were the Mackay Railway.
The site of Paget station was slightly to the North of the Current Mackay Station (not where google maps has placed the icon), which was built with the Mackay diversion in 1994. The old station building was sold as a private residence and relocated to Walkerston in around 2000. The signal box was sold to the the Mackay Model Engineers Society.
