Truro was the terminus of the …well Truro line actually. The line opened in 1917 and enjoyed the convenience of a passenger service until 1968. By the late 70’s the line had been relegated as a branch, with the diverging line to Angaston becoming the ‘main line. Occasional freight trains and tour specials worked the line until it was declared unsafe by AN in 1979, at least back to Stockwell. By 1987, the section beyond Stockwell was more or less relegated as a surplus rollingstock siding, by 1992 the entire section from Penrose Junction was declare closed – although most of the line had dismantled by then.
