Watchem was opened in 1893, when the line reached Birchip, and was quite unusual in the sense that the long demountable station building at later stage had an extra roof attached to the present roof, to form not only greater protection, but also a verandah for passengers. This structure was photographed between 1986 and 1990, but alas only the platform now remains, with the building abolished sometime during the 1990s.
